The Best Monkey Bread Recipe
This easy Monkey Bread Recipe is one of the most requested breakfast recipes when company comes to our house! Where the original version of this recipe came from and got its name are up for debate. It is thought that during World War II, women in America were striving to create recipes using minimal ingredients and were easy to fix. Monkey Bread emerged at the time as a creative recipe solution. It was originally made with pieces of bread dough bathed in butter and sugar, baked in a loaf pan, and served as a sweet treat.
The simple pull apart recipe gained popularity when a 1040’s Hollywood film star supposedly found this recipe in Nashville and published it in her cookbook. Betty Crocker published something similar 11 years later, and first lady Nancy Reagan served it at the White House in the 1980’s. It has some fancy roots, but it’s sweet and sticky and irresistible!
It’s name is thought to be due to the fact that it is a pull apart treat that is eaten with your hands like a monkey would eat. Kids love it for the overall deliciousness, ability to help make it, eat it with their hands, and lick every bit off their fingers! Make my favorite version of it tonight & serve it in the morning!
