My Latest Beauty Finds (Quarantine Edition)
During quarantine, my girlfriends and I made a habit of meeting regularly on Zoom to stay connected and sane. One of our recent chats turned into a conversation about self-care and how important it still is to take care of ourselves, even while stuck at home in sweats. That little pep talk was just what I needed to restock a few beauty favorites—and try some of their top recommendations, too.
Makeup Must-Haves
Even in quarantine, I was running low on my go-to makeup essentials. With remote teaching in full swing and daily Google Meet sessions for both faculty and class meetings, I still found myself getting ready each morning. One product I reordered was Estée Lauder’s Hudra Rescue Makeup (SPF 45), which I snagged from Macy’s. I love how smoothly it goes on, plus the sun protection gives me peace of mind when I step out onto the deck for a quick sunshine break. I also replenished Estée Lauder’s gel eye pencil in Smoke—a dependable, long-lasting liner that really stretches your beauty dollar.
At-Home Hair Color Adventures
I’ve managed to avoid going gray (so far!), but the dark roots were definitely making their presence known. After stretching the time since my last salon visit, I knew I had to do something. I used to color my hair at home, so I took a deep breath, accepted the challenge, and got to work. It’s not Lisa-from-Cobalt-Hair-Lab level, but it’s doing the job for now—and you better believe I’ll be back in her chair the minute non-essential appointments open up again.
After hunting around online (there’s been a serious run on hair dye!), I finally found L’Oréal Paris Superior Preference. It wasn’t easy to track down, but it worked well enough to hold me over until I can get back to professional hands.
Lashes, Lashes, Lashes
