Derby season is finally here, and it always feels like the official start of spring around here. There’s just something about it, fresh flowers, a beautiful table, and a reason to gather that never gets old.
Whether you’re hosting a few friends or keeping things simple at home, it’s one of those days that feels special without needing to be over complicated.
If you’re planning to celebrate, I put together a full menu to make it easy:
Derby Brunch Menu
(simple, classic, and easy to pull together)
It’s a mix of a few Kentucky favorites and a handful of recipes you can prep ahead, so you’re not stuck in the kitchen while everyone else is enjoying the day. Think effortless, but still thoughtful.
And if you love the tradition behind it all, I also shared a more personal look here:
A Day at the Derby
A little bit of history, a little nostalgia, and all the reasons it’s such a meaningful tradition, whether you’re at the track or celebrating from home.
If you’re hosting this year, you really don’t need much, just good food, something bubbly, and a few fresh flowers go a long way.
I’ll be celebrating with a simple table, a few favorite recipes, and (hopefully) a winning horse or two.
Happy Hosting!

I like to keep things classic and unfussy with just a few details that make everything feel pulled together:
- Soft spring green linens
- Fresh red roses or seasonal flowers
- White or silver equestrian serving pieces (see some fabulous equestrian finds in my Derby Brunch Post)
- A hint of silver or brushed gold
It doesn’t take much, but it always feels special.
A Few Other Favorites I’m Using This Season
Just a handful of pieces the same or similar to what I reach for again and again, nothing complicated, just things that make hosting a little easier and a little prettier:
- Classic white serving platter
- Lovely champagne flutes
- Linen napkins in soft spring tones
- A go-to vase for fresh flowers
- Pretty water pitcher
